What to Expect During Your Initial Consultation

Lodestone Legal Group building for a team of Lawyers in Franklin TN

At Lodestone Legal Group, we understand that many of our clients have never been to an attorney before, so we are happy to provide a free initial consultation for most of our practice areas. There is a common misconception that initial consultations will provide a solution to your legal needs. This is not the case. The first meeting serves to develop a rapport with the attorney, and for you to make a determination whether this attorney, and their firm, is the best fit for you. Think of it as an interview.

Our firm views the initial consultation as a great opportunity for the client and the attorney to set a solid foundation for a successful working relationship.  We believe that the purpose of an initial consultation is to establish the following:

  • A Brief Introduction of the Matter. This is your opportunity to share your legal issue with the attorney. It is always helpful to bring all important papers, communications, and anything else that pertains to resolving the matter.  Prior to your consultation, our firm will conduct a conflict check. This check has two purposes: 1) to ensure that we are able to assist you, and 2) that you can talk freely about the matter during the meeting.
  • An Opportunity to get to Know the Attorney and Firm. Our goal is to create a positive experience for our clients. We know that you are putting your trust into the attorney that you elect to work with and we look at the consultation as an opportunity for you to meet with the attorney, determine if they are knowledgeable in the area of law specific to your needs, and at the same time, whether you find them to be relatable.
  • Discussion of Pricing and Fee Schedule. We believe that there should be no surprises in your legal bills. It is our goal that you leave the meeting with a firm understanding of what the flat-rate or hourly rate estimate will be for the services provided. As noted above we do not offer free consultations for all areas of law. For example, we do not provide free consultations for Probate matters.  If the area of law you need help in falls under this category, you will be informed at the time that you make the appointment, and any fee collected for that matter will be applied against your total bill if you engage our firm.

I believe that after your initial consultation you will find that we are a different kind of law firm – and that you will be pleased with the direction, guidance, and results that you find from working with us. Please contact our office today so that we may begin to assist you with resolving any ongoing or unresolved legal matters. We look forward to serving you.
